Solution:
- Let the number of unskilled workers be x and the number of skilled workers be y.
- According to the question, the average salary of x unskilled workers is Rs.10,000.
- Therefore, the total salary of x unskilled workers = 10,000x.
- Similarly, the total salary of y skilled workers = 15,000y.
- According to the question, the combined salary of both groups is Rs.12,000.
- Therefore, 10,000x + 15,000y = 12,000(x + y).
- Simplifying the above equation, we get:
- 2,000x = 3,000y
- x/y = 3/2
- Let us assume the total number of workers is z.
- Therefore, x + y = z.
- Substituting x/y = 3/2 in the above equation, we get:
- x = 3z/5 and y = 2z/5
- The percentage of skilled workers is:
- Percentage of skilled workers = (Number of skilled workers / Total number of workers) x 100
- Percentage of skilled workers = (2z/5 / z) x 100 = 40%
