In a commercial complex of five storeys, five different offices are there viz. HCL, IBM, Infosys, Nugent and Accenture on the floors I, II, III, IV and V, respectively. There are total 6000 employees working in the building. Each employee is employed in only one of the companies. Out of the total employees in the building, 18% are working in IBM and 37% are working in HCL. The ratio of the employees working in Accenture to that working in Infosys is 17 : 19. Only 9% of the total employees are working in Nugent. The ratio of male employees to that of female employees working in Nugent is 7 : 2 and that in Infosys is 17 : 21. The number of male employees working in Accenture is five times the number of female employees. The number of male employees working in HCL is 480 less than the number of male employees working in Accenture. Out of its total employees, IBM has employed approximately 44.45% females.
Q. If after some time, 30% of the employees of Infosys in the building have switched their job to Nugent in the same building, out of which approximately 30% were male employees, then what will be the new ratio of the male employees to the female employees in Nugent after switching jobs?
  • a)
    359 : 523

    523 : 359
  • c)

Directions: Study the following information and answer the given quest...
Total number of employees in the building = 6000
Total number of employees working in HCL = 6000 × 0.37 = 2220
Percentage of employees working in Accenture and Infosys
= 100% - 18% - 37% - 9% = 36%
The ratio of employees working in Accenture to the employees working in Infosys = 17 : 19
Therefore, percentage of employees working in Accenture =  = 17%
Number of employees working in Accenture = 6000 × 17/100 = 1020
Percentage of employees working in Infosys = 36% - 17% = 19%
Number of employees in Infosys = 6000 × 9/100 = 1140
Number of employees who switched to Nugent = 1140 × 30/100 = 342
Number of male employees out of total who switched their job = 342 × 30/100 = 102.6 ≈ 103
Therefore, number of female employees who switched to Nugent = 342 - 103 = 239
Number of employees in Nugent before switching the job = 6000 × (9/100) = 540
Number of male employees in Nugent before switching job = (540 × 7)/9 = 420
Number of female employees in Nugent before switching job = 540 - 420 = 120
Therefore, number of male employees in Nugent after switching job = 420 + 103 = 523
Number of female employees in Nugent after switching job = 120 + 239 = 359
Therefore, required ratio = 523 : 359
Hence, this is the required solution.

Direction: Read the passage given below and answer the question that follows by selecting the most appropriate option. It is easy to make a delicious-looking hamburger at home. But would this hamburger still look delicious after it sat on your kitchen table under very bright lights for six or seven hours? If someone took a picture or made a video of this hamburger after the seventh hour, would anyone want to eat it? These are the questions that fast food companies worry about when they produce commercials. Video and photoshoot often last many hours. Because of this, the menu items in fast-food commercials are probably not actually edible. As an example, the first step towards building the perfect commercial hamburger is the bun. The food stylist-a person employed by the company to make sure the products look perfect-sorts through hundreds of buns until he or she finds one with no wrinkles. Next, the stylist carefully rearranges the sesame seeds on the bun using glue and tweezers for maximum visual appeal. The bun is then sprayed with a waterproofing solution so that it will not get soggy from contact with other ingredients, the lights, or the humidity in the room. Next, the food stylist shapes a meat patty into a perfect circle and paints the outside with a mixture of oil, molasses, and brown food coloring. Grill marks are either painted on or seared into the meat using hot metal skewers. Finally, the food stylist searches through dozens of tomatoes and heads of lettuce to find the best-looking produce. One leaf of the crispiest lettuce and one center slice of the reddest tomato are selected and then sprayed with glycerin to keep them looking fresh. So the next time you see a delectable hamburger in a fast-food commercial, remember: you're actually looking at glue, paint, raw meat, and glycerin!Q. Based on information in the passage, it is most important for the lettuce and tomato used in a fast-food hamburger commercial to
