Ans.

Vasopressin, also called antidiuretic hormone, hormone that plays a key role in maintaining osmolality (the concentration of dissolved particles, such as salts and glucose, in the serum) and therefore in maintaining the volume of water in the extracellular fluid (the fluid space that surrounds cells).

Regulating Blood Pressure and Acting on Nephron Tubules:
Vasopressin, also known as antidiuretic hormone (ADH), plays a crucial role in regulating blood pressure by acting on the nephron tubules in the kidneys. When blood pressure drops or blood osmolality increases, the hypothalamus signals the release of vasopressin from the pituitary gland.

Effect on Nephron Tubules:
Vasopressin acts on the nephron tubules in the kidneys to increase water reabsorption. It does this by inserting aquaporin channels into the cells of the collecting ducts, allowing for the passive reabsorption of water back into the bloodstream. This helps to concentrate the urine and reduce water loss from the body.

Regulation of Blood Pressure:
By increasing water reabsorption, vasopressin helps to maintain blood volume and prevent dehydration, which in turn helps to regulate blood pressure. It also constricts blood vessels, which can further help to increase blood pressure when necessary.

Role in Osmoregulation:
Vasopressin is also involved in osmoregulation, helping the body maintain proper fluid balance and electrolyte concentrations. It responds to changes in blood osmolality to ensure that the body's water levels are kept within a narrow range.
In conclusion, vasopressin plays a vital role in regulating blood pressure and water balance by acting on the nephron tubules in the kidneys. Its effects on water reabsorption and blood vessel constriction help to maintain blood pressure and prevent dehydration.
