Founder of Gautama Buddha

Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was born in the 6th century BCE in Lumbini, Nepal. He was a prince named Siddhartha Gautama who renounced his luxurious life to seek enlightenment and understand the causes of human suffering.

Father of Buddha

Suddhodana was the father of Gautama Buddha and the ruler of the Shakya clan in Kapilavastu, which is now in present-day Nepal. He was a king who wanted his son to become a great ruler rather than a spiritual leader. However, Siddhartha's encounter with the realities of old age, sickness, and death led him to leave his family and kingdom in search of truth and enlightenment.

Suddhodana played a significant role in Siddhartha's life by providing him with a sheltered and privileged upbringing. However, he also played a part in Siddhartha's renunciation of his princely life by unintentionally exposing him to the harsh realities of human existence.
