Efficiency of a Transformer:
The efficiency of a transformer is given by the formula:
Efficiency = Output power / (Output power + Total losses)
At maximum efficiency, output power is equal to input power minus total losses.

Given Data:
- Transformer rating (S) = 20 kVA = 20,000 VA
- Iron loss (Wi) = 250 W
- Full load copper loss (Wcu) = 500 W
- Maximum efficiency load = 85% of full load

Calculating Total Loss:
At maximum efficiency, output power = 0.85 * 20,000 VA = 17,000 VA
Input power = Output power + Total losses
Total losses = Input power - Output power
Total losses = 20,000 VA - 17,000 VA = 3,000 VA

Calculating New Losses:
Since total losses are constant, we can use the ratio of new load to full load to find the new losses.
New iron loss (Wi') = Wi
New copper loss (Wcu') = Wcu * (New load / Full load)^2
New copper loss (Wcu') = 500 * (0.85)^2 = 500 * 0.7225 = 361.25 W
Therefore, the new iron loss (Wi') is 250 W and the new copper loss (Wcu') is 361.25 W under full load operation.
