A wholesaler had 200 dozens of mangoes. He sold some of these mangoes ...

Solution:

Let's assume the wholesaler sold x dozens of mangoes at 20% profit and (200-x) dozens at 10% profit.

We know that the overall profit made by the wholesaler is 13%.

Calculating the profit:

  • Profit from x dozens at 20% = 0.20*x*12
  • Profit from (200-x) dozens at 10% = 0.10*(200-x)*12
  • Total profit = 0.13*200*12

Equation for profit:

0.20*x*12 + 0.10*(200-x)*12 = 0.13*200*12

Solving the equation:

  • 2.4x + 24 - 1.2x = 31.2
  • 1.2x = 7.2
  • x = 6

Calculating the number of mangoes sold at 20% profit:

x = 6 dozens

Therefore, the wholesaler sold 6 dozens of mangoes at 20% profit.
