Ravi uses two lenses A and B of same size and same material as shown. P1 and P2 are
the powers of A and B. An object is kept at the same distance from the lens between F and 2F of each lens on the principal axis in turn let I1 and I2 be the image formed write down the relation between the power of lens of both types?
Most Upvoted Answer
Ravi uses two lenses A and B of same size and same material as shown. ...
Relation between the powers of lenses A and B:

Power of lens A (P1):
- Object distance from lens A = between F and 2F
- Image formed by lens A = I1

Power of lens B (P2):
- Object distance from lens B = between F and 2F
- Image formed by lens B = I2

Relation between P1 and P2:
When an object is placed between F and 2F of a lens, the image formed is always beyond 2F. This implies that the focal length of both lenses A and B is positive.
The formula relating the object distance (u), image distance (v), and focal length (f) is given by:
1/f = 1/v + 1/u
Since the object distance is the same for both lenses A and B, the above equation can be written as:
1/f1 = 1/v1 + 1/u and 1/f2 = 1/v2 + 1/u
Given that the lenses A and B have the same size and material, their focal lengths are the same. Therefore, f1 = f2.
Hence, 1/v1 + 1/u = 1/f and 1/v2 + 1/u = 1/f
This implies that 1/v1 = 1/v2
Therefore, the powers of lenses A and B are equal.
P1 = P2
