Solution:
Let the sum of 15 numbers be S.
Given, average of 15 numbers =18
So, S/15=18 or S=270
When each number is multiplied by 9, then the sum of the new set of numbers will be 9 times the sum of the original set of numbers.
So, the sum of the new set of numbers = 9S = 9*270 = 2430
The number of elements in the new set of numbers is 15.
Therefore, the average of the new set of numbers = (sum of the new set of numbers)/(number of elements in the new set of numbers) = 2430/15 = 162
Hence, the correct option is (c) 162.
