**Sulphuric Acid Conducts Electricity**

Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) is a strong acid that is highly dissociated in aqueous solution. When dissolved in water, sulphuric acid dissociates into hydrogen ions (H+) and sulphate ions (SO42-). These ions are responsible for the conduction of electricity in the solution.

**Ionic Nature of Sulphuric Acid**

Sulphuric acid is an electrolyte solution due to the presence of ions. An electrolyte is a substance that conducts electricity when dissolved in a solvent. In the case of sulphuric acid, the hydrogen ions (H+) and sulphate ions (SO42-) act as charge carriers and facilitate the flow of electric current.

**Dissociation of Sulphuric Acid**

When sulphuric acid is dissolved in water, it undergoes complete dissociation. The strong acid completely ionizes into hydrogen ions (H+) and sulphate ions (SO42-). The dissociation reaction of sulphuric acid can be represented as follows:

H2SO4 → 2H+ + SO42-

The presence of free-moving ions in the solution allows for the conduction of electricity. The hydrogen ions are positively charged and move towards the negative electrode (cathode), while the sulphate ions are negatively charged and move towards the positive electrode (anode). This movement of ions constitutes an electric current.

**Alcohol does not Conduct Electricity**

Unlike sulphuric acid, alcohol does not conduct electricity. This is because alcohol is a covalent compound and does not dissociate into ions when dissolved in water or any other solvent. The absence of free ions hinders the flow of electric current.

**Covalent Nature of Alcohol**

Alcohols are organic compounds that consist of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms. The bonding between these atoms is predominantly covalent, where atoms share electrons to form stable molecules. When alcohol dissolves in water, it forms hydrogen bonds with water molecules but does not dissociate into ions.

**Absence of Ions in Alcohol**

The lack of ionization in alcohol prevents the formation of free-moving charged particles required for conduction of electricity. As a result, alcohol solutions do not allow the flow of electric current.

In conclusion, sulphuric acid conducts electricity due to its ionic nature, complete dissociation into ions, and the presence of free-moving hydrogen and sulphate ions. On the other hand, alcohol does not conduct electricity as it is a covalent compound that does not dissociate into ions when dissolved in water.

Solution of sulphuric acid conducts electricity whereas alcohol does n...
Because sulphuric acid is a strong electrolyte.it can break down in free mobile ions which can conduct electricity but alcohol is non electrolyte it can't be break down in ions to conduct electricity.?.
