Years later Mrs. Packletide writes her autobiography. As Mrs.packletid...
What an episode it was! Today, when I think about it I realise how stupid I had been for the sake of fame. But at that time I was simply jealous of the applause Loona was getting. I thought of a tiger hunt which could be the only way to get fame like her. I didn't waste much time and arranged for the tiger hunt with the help of the villagers, who were paid for their efforts. Louisa Mebbin accompanied me for the hunt. She was my paid companion and a very shrewd lady. I concentrated on my hunt and when the tiger arrived on the scene I became very excited and alert. To get an old tiger was also a part of our plan, so that I didn't have to put in much effort to shoot him. Then finally, I made my shot and saw that both the tiger and the goat were killed. Later on, Louisa Mebbin revealed the fact to me that I had actually killed the goat with the bullet and the tiger had simply died out of heart failure because of the sound from the rifle. Later, Louisa Mebbin blackmailed me knowing the fact and said that she would reveal this fact to Loona Bimberton if I would not fulfil her greed to keep her mouth shut and the reality under cover. Thus, I had to pay a huge price to outdo a rival.

Years later Mrs. Packletide writes her autobiography. As Mrs.packletid...
Introduction:
Years later, Mrs. Packletide, the renowned socialite, decided to pen down her autobiography, reflecting on various events of her life. One of the most memorable incidents she recounted was the tiger episode, which had gained her considerable fame at the time.
The Motivation:
Mrs. Packletide's primary motivation behind the tiger episode was her desire to outshine her rival, Loona Bimberton. When Loona had received a rather extravagant gift of a tiger-skin rug, Mrs. Packletide felt envious and wanted to create a similar buzz.
The Plan:
With the assistance of her hunting guide, Louisa Mebbin, Mrs. Packletide devised a plan to shoot a tiger and gain recognition for her brave endeavor. She offered a thousand rupees to the villagers, promising the reward to whoever provided her with an opportunity to shoot a tiger. This created a sense of excitement and eagerness among the locals.
The Tiger Hunt:
On the day of the hunt, Mrs. Packletide was accompanied by her paid companion, Miss Mebbin, and a few villagers. They located a suitable spot near a watering hole and set up a platform for Mrs. Packletide to wait and shoot the tiger when it approached for a drink.
The Unintended Outcome:
However, fate had a different plan in store. While Mrs. Packletide waited anxiously, a harmless old tiger wandered by, oblivious to the hunt. Miss Mebbin, seizing the opportunity to prove her worth, grabbed a gun and shot the unsuspecting tiger. This unexpected turn of events left Mrs. Packletide both relieved and disappointed.
The Aftermath:
Despite the tiger being an easy target, Mrs. Packletide was hailed as a great huntress and received immense praise and recognition for her courage. She was even offered a membership in the local branch of the Humanitarian League. However, she became burdened with guilt, fearing that her secret might be revealed and her reputation tarnished.
The Revelation:
Ultimately, Mrs. Packletide's fears proved to be unfounded when her rival, Loona Bimberton, inadvertently revealed the truth during a conversation. Loona mentioned how Mrs. Packletide had taken a trip in an airplane to ensure the tiger's demise. This revelation left Mrs. Packletide both outraged and relieved, as her secret was finally out in the open.
Conclusion:
The tiger episode in Mrs. Packletide's life was a mix of envy, ambition, and a stroke of luck. It highlighted the lengths to which she was willing to go to gain recognition and outshine her rival. However, it also served as a lesson, teaching her the importance of honesty and integrity. Despite the unintended outcome, Mrs. Packletide's tiger episode remained an integral part of her autobiography, showcasing the complexities of human nature and the consequences of one's actions.
