If n is an even number then n (n+1) (n+2) is divisible by 24 ?
The proof goes like this:
1) Since the product is made from 3 consecutive integers, it is divisible by 3! = 6.
2) Since n is even, n+2 is even and therefore n(n+2) is divisible by 4.
From 1 and 2 it follows that the product is divisible by 4*6 = 24.
The above conclusion is wrong since 4 and 6 have a common factor of 2, we can not really say that it is divisible by 4*6. For example, 12 is divisible both by 4 and 6 but is not divisible by 24.
