Nearsighted individuals have image formed in front of the retina. They must correct the problem by wearing a lens which provides for some diverging of light prior to reaching the lens of the eye. This will move the image further from the lens of the eye and back towards the retina.

As the problem says that, the image is forming in front of the retina, then this eye defect is known as myopia. So, to treat this defect, we use a diverging (concave) lens. Frst of all, the diverging (concave) lens will diverge the light rays to a specific angle so that by converging of the rays by our covex type of eye lens will directly fall on our retina nd we will get a clear image. Hope uh got it :)
