ZnO+C→Zn+CO is an example of
  • a)
    oxidation Reaction
  • b)
    Reduction reaction
  • c)
    Neither oxidation nor reduction
  • d)
    Both oxidation and reduction simultaneously
Correct answer is option 'D'. Can you explain this answer?
Verified Answer
ZnO+C→Zn+CO is an example ofa)oxidation Reactionb)Reduction react...
In the reaction ZnO + C → Zn + CO

ZnO is getting reduced(loss of O) by C and in the process C gets oxidized to CO(gain of O). Also, C is displacing Zn from its oxide, thus it is also a displacement reaction.

Therefore, this reaction is both a redox as well as displacement reaction.

Because Zn loses the oxygen it means it is reduced carbon gets combined with oxygen after reaction it means that carbon is getting oxidised therefore this reaction is ex. of both oxidation and reduction simultaneously

ZnO is the chemical formula for zinc oxide. It is a white, powdery solid that is insoluble in water. It is commonly used in sunscreens, cosmetics, paints, and ceramics due to its ability to block ultraviolet (UV) radiation and its good adhesion properties. It is also used as a filler in rubber products and as a catalyst in various chemical reactions. ZnO has antibacterial properties and is sometimes used in medical applications such as wound healing and treating skin conditions.
