The near point of the eye is the minimum distance of the object from the eye, which can be seen distinctly without strain. For a normal human eye, this distance is 25 cm.

The far point of the eye is the maximum distance to which the eye can see the objects clearly. The far point of the normal human eye is infinity.

Explanation:

The far point of a healthy person is the maximum distance at which they can see objects clearly without any visual aid, such as glasses or contact lenses. The correct answer is option 'C', which is infinity.

Normal Vision and Accommodation

When light enters the eye, it is focused by the cornea and the lens onto the retina, which is the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. The shape of the lens can be adjusted to focus on objects at different distances. This ability to adjust the focus is called accommodation.

In a healthy eye, the lens can change its shape to focus on objects both near and far. When looking at objects up close, the lens becomes more rounded and thickens to increase its refractive power. This allows the eye to focus the incoming light rays onto the retina, resulting in a clear image.

Far Point and Near Point

The far point is the maximum distance at which the lens can be relaxed and the eye can still focus the light rays onto the retina. In other words, it is the farthest distance at which a person can see objects clearly. For a healthy person, the far point is at infinity.

On the other hand, the near point is the closest distance at which the lens can adjust to focus on an object. The near point for a healthy person is typically around 25 cm, which means that objects closer than 25 cm will appear blurry.

Correction of Vision

If a person has a refractive error, such as myopia (nearsightedness) or hyperopia (farsightedness), their far point may be different from infinity. In such cases, glasses or contact lenses are used to correct the refractive error and bring the far point back to infinity.

For example, in myopia, the far point is closer than infinity, leading to blurry vision when looking at distant objects. Glasses with concave lenses are prescribed to diverge the incoming light rays and allow them to focus properly onto the retina, resulting in clear vision.

In summary, the far point of a healthy person is at infinity, meaning they can see objects clearly at any distance without the need for visual aids.
