Creation of the states can be considered as the first step for creating a democratic political environment in India.

Most of the states were created on the basis of the languages spoken by the people of those states in order to ensure people of a state speak same language.

But some of the states were also created to acknowledge the diversity of ethnicity, geography and culture as well.

Names of two such states which were created to acknowledge the diversity of ethnicity, geography and culture are Jharkhand and Nagaland.
