Introduction

Aluminium is a highly reactive metal, but it is still widely used for packing food articles. This is because of its unique properties that make it an ideal material for food packaging.

Properties of Aluminium

Aluminium has several properties that make it an ideal material for packing food articles. These properties include:

1. Non-Toxic: Aluminium is a non-toxic material, and it does not react with food. This means that it does not contaminate food, making it safe for consumption.

2. Lightweight: Aluminium is a lightweight material, which makes it easy to transport and handle. This property is especially important in the food packaging industry, where large volumes of goods need to be transported.

3. Corrosion-Resistant: Aluminium is highly resistant to corrosion, which means that it does not rust or deteriorate over time. This property ensures that food remains fresh and free from contamination.

4. Barrier Properties: Aluminium has excellent barrier properties, which makes it an effective material for packaging food. It prevents oxygen, water, and light from entering the package, which helps to preserve the quality and freshness of food.

Conclusion

In conclusion, despite being a reactive metal, aluminium is still used for packing food articles due to its unique properties. Its non-toxicity, lightweight, corrosion resistance, and barrier properties make it an ideal material for food packaging.
