More than half of the total forest land has beem declared as reserved forests. Jammu & Kashmir , Maharashtra, Kerala, etc. have largest %age of these.Protected Forests :-  These are protected from any furthur depletion. Almost one -third of the total is the protected forested area. Bihar, Punjab, haryana, etc. have a bulk of it.
