A boy is cycling such that the wheel of the cycle are making 140 revolution per minute . If diameter of the wheel is 60 cm , calculate the speed in km per hour in which the boy is cycling.?
Most Upvoted Answer
A boy is cycling such that the wheel of the cycle are making 140 revol...
By unitary method
140 revolution takes 1 min
1 revolution takes 1 min /140
=60/140
=3/7 sec
now,radius =d/2
=60/2 =30cm
=0.3m
speed of cycle in uniform circular motion=2πr/t
=2(22/7)*(3/10)/(3/7)
=22/5
=4.4m/s
now to convert in km/h multiply by 18/5
=44/10*18/5
=15.84 km/h (approx)

Calculation of Speed

To calculate the speed at which the boy is cycling, we need to convert the given information into the appropriate units and apply the relevant formulas.

Given:
- Number of revolutions per minute = 140
- Diameter of the wheel = 60 cm

Converting Units
The diameter of the wheel is given in centimeters, but it is more convenient to work with the measurements in meters for this calculation. Therefore, we need to convert the diameter from centimeters to meters.

- Diameter of the wheel = 60 cm = 0.6 meters

Calculating Circumference
The circumference of the wheel can be calculated using the formula:
Circumference = π * diameter

In this case, the diameter of the wheel is 0.6 meters, so the circumference can be calculated as:
Circumference = π * 0.6

Calculating Distance Traveled
The distance traveled by the cycle in one revolution is equal to the circumference of the wheel. Therefore, the distance traveled in one minute can be calculated as follows:
Distance per minute = Circumference * Number of revolutions per minute

In this case, the number of revolutions per minute is 140, so the distance traveled in one minute can be calculated as:
Distance per minute = Circumference * 140

Converting to Kilometers per Hour
To convert the distance traveled in one minute to kilometers per hour, we need to multiply it by the appropriate conversion factor. There are 60 minutes in an hour and 1000 meters in a kilometer.

Therefore, the speed in kilometers per hour can be calculated as:
Speed (km/h) = (Distance per minute * 60) / 1000

Substituting the previously calculated value of the distance per minute, we get:
Speed (km/h) = (Circumference * 140 * 60) / 1000

Calculating the Final Answer
Now, we can plug in the value of the circumference and calculate the final answer.

Speed (km/h) = (π * 0.6 * 140 * 60) / 1000

Simplifying this expression will give us the speed at which the boy is cycling in kilometers per hour.
