The front transparent part of eye is called CORNEA.
It's lens system forms an image on a light sensitive screen called RETINA .
Behind the cornea ,is a circular diaphragm called IRIS with a hole in its centre. The hole is called PUPIL of eye .
The function of Iris is to control and regulate amount of light entering the eye by adjusting the size of pupil.
Behind pupil, is a double convex lens called eye lens.
The space between corneal and eye lens is filled with a viscous liquid called AQUEOUS HUMOUR.
The space between the eye lens and retina contains a transparent jelly called VITREOUS HUMOUR. .....

Cornea: Light enters through the cornea, the transparent outer covering of the eye. The eyeball is rounded, so the cornea acts as a lens. It bends or refracts light.
Aqueous Humor: The fluid beneath the cornea has a composition similar to that of blood plasma. The aqueous humor helps to shape the cornea and provides nourishment to the eye.
Iris and Pupil: Light passes through the cornea and aqueous humor through an opening called the pupil. The size of the pupil is determined by the iris, the contractile ring that is associated with eye color. As the pupil dilates (gets bigger), more light enters the eye.
Lens: While most of the focusing of light is done by the cornea, the lens allows the eye to focus on either near or distant objects. Ciliary muscles surround the lens, relaxing to flatten it to image distant objects and contracting to thicken the lens to image close-up objects.
Vitreous Humor: A certain distance is required to focus light. The vitreous humor is a transparent watery gel that supports the eye and allows for this distance.

The human eye can be compared to a camera which gathers, focuses, and transmits light through a lens to create an image of the environment. In a camera, the image is created on film; in the eye, the image is created on the retina, a thin layer of light sensitive cells at the back of the eye. The lens of the eye bends, or refracts, light that enters the eye.

The cornea, which is a clear, transparent covering in the front portion of the eye also contributes to focusing light on the retina. Nerve fibers extending back from the retina's nerve cells come together behind the retina to form the optic nerve, a 'cable' of nerve fibers connecting the eye with the brain.

The optic nerve transmits messages about what we see from the eye to the brain. Like a camera, the human eye controls the amount of light that enters the eye through the lens under various lighting conditions.

The human eye is one of the most important sense organs.It enables to see the object and colours around usSTRUCTURE OF EYE:::》The front portion is more sharply curved and is covered by a transparent protective membrane called CORNEA.It is the portion which is visible from outside. 》Behind the cornea ,there is a place filled with a liquid called aqueous humour and behind this is a crystalline lens which is responsible for the image formation.》Behind the aqueous humour and the lens ,we have a muscle diaphragm called iris which has a small hole in it is called pupil.Iris is the coloured pary that we see in our eye. ¤》The pupil appears black bcz any light falling on it goes into the eye and there is almost no chance of light coming back to the outside.Iris helps in controlling the amount of light entering the eye through pupil.》In low light conditions,the iris make the pupil to expand so that more light is allowed to go in qnd in the case of bright or excess light conditions,it makes the pupil contract and there by prevent the excess light not to go into eye .》Thus iris enables pupil to act as a variable aperture for entry of light into the eye》The ciliary muscles to which eye lens is attached helps the eye lens to change its focallength by changing the radii of curvature of the eye lensHope u understand it clearly.All the best for ur exams
