As we know that out of 64 codon, 61 are sense codon which codes for amino acid and one codon can be substituted by 9 times ( as one base pair can be substituted 3 times, each codon contains 3 base pair so total 3*3=9 substitution ). So total base pair substitution possible equal to 9 x 61 = 549
