- Rohan is 7 ranks ahead of Karan in a class of 39.
- Karan's rank is seventeenth from the last.

To find:
- Rohan's rank from the start.

Solution:
- Karan's rank from the start = Total number of students in the class - Karan's rank from the last + 1
- Karan's rank from the last = 17
- Total number of students in the class = 39
- Karan's rank from the start = 39 - 17 + 1 = 23

- Rohan's rank from the start = Karan's rank from the start + 7 (as Rohan is 7 ranks ahead of Karan)
- Rohan's rank from the start = 23 + 7 = 30

Therefore, Rohan's rank from the start is 30.

Answer: (c) 16th.
