In respiration glucose gets oxidized to form CO2 ,water and gratis evolved. as heat is realised during respiration it is regarded as exothermic reaction.

Why is respiration is an exothermic process..?
Energy is needed for us to stay alive. This energy comes from the nutrition i.e the food which we eat. During digestion , the complex food molecule (carbohydrates,fats,proteins) breaks down into simpler substances ( amino acids, fatty acids and monosaccharides).This simpler substances combine with O2 to give energy to our cells and produce heat.This is respiratipn process . Thus exothermic reaction takes place same as respiration process .
