Most Upvoted Answer
A rocket is in the form of a circular cylinder closed at the lower end...
Given:
Radius of cylinder, r = 2.5 m
Height of cylinder, h = 21 m
Slant height of cone, l = 8 m

To find:
Total surface area of the rocket

Solution:

1. Curved surface area of the cylinder
Curved surface area of cylinder = 2πrh
= 2 x 22/7 x 2.5 x 21
= 330 m²

2. Curved surface area of the cone
Curved surface area of cone = πrl
= 22/7 x 2.5 x 8
= 20 m²

3. Total surface area of the cylinder
Total surface area of cylinder = 2πr² + 2πrh
= 2 x 22/7 x (2.5)² + 2 x 22/7 x 2.5 x 21
= 385 m²

4. Total surface area of the cone
Total surface area of cone = πr² + πrl
= 22/7 x (2.5)² + 22/7 x 2.5 x 8
= 70 m²

5. Total surface area of the rocket
Total surface area of the rocket = Curved surface area of cylinder + Curved surface area of cone + Total surface area of cylinder + Total surface area of cone
= 330 + 20 + 385 + 70
= 805 m²

Therefore, the total surface area of the rocket is 805 m², which is closest to option (B) 412.5 m².
