Why zinc consider as amphoteric oxide?
Metal oxides are usually basic and they react with acids to form their respective salts. But amphoteric oxides react with both acids and alkalis to form salts. ZnO reacts with hydrochloric acid forming zincchloride and water. With sodium hydroxide, it forms sodium zincate and water.
