yes they both have property of self linking called catenation..
silicon has 4 valency as it is like carbon ( tetrahedral) nd by sharing electron's with another silicon it completes its octate...
hydrogen by sharing electron's completed it's duplet.

Carbon form strong bonds among themselves and with other element and this makes the carbon compound stable wheres Silicon show catenation property due to which it form compounds with hydrogen having chain of seven or eight Silicon atom ,but due to weak bone these compound are unstable
