    None of these
Correct answer is option 'A'. Can you explain this answer?
Verified Answer
Two closed vessel A and B of equal volume of 8.21 L are connected by a...
The correct answer is D.
P(CO2)=3*0.0821*400/8.21=12atm

 P(He)=2*0.0821*400/8.21=8atm

 Pressure at 55k

P1/T1=P2/T2

T1=400

T2=500

P1=8atm

8/400=p2/500

P2=4000/400=10atm.=the partial pressure of He in vessel B at 500 K"

Two closed vessel A and B of equal volume of 8.21 L are connected by a...
Given:
Volume of vessel A = Volume of vessel B = 8.21 L
Moles of CO2 in vessel A = 3
Moles of He in vessel A = 2
Temperature of vessel A = 400 K
Temperature of vessel B = 500 K
Valve is open

To find: Partial pressure of He in vessel B

Solution:

1. Use the ideal gas equation to find the initial pressure of the gases in vessel A:
PV = nRT
where P is the pressure, V is the volume, n is the number of moles, R is the gas constant, and T is the temperature.

For CO2 in vessel A:
P1 = (3 moles)(0.08206 L atm/mol K)(400 K)/(8.21 L) = 9.47 atm

For He in vessel A:
P2 = (2 moles)(0.08206 L atm/mol K)(400 K)/(8.21 L) = 6.32 atm

2. Since the valve is open, the pressure in both vessels will be the same when they reach equilibrium.

3. Use the ideal gas equation again to find the final pressure of the gases in vessel B:
P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2
where V1 and T1 are the volume and temperature of vessel A, and V2 and T2 are the volume and temperature of vessel B.

For He in vessel B:
P2 = (P1V1/T1)(T2/V2) = (6.32 atm)(500 K/8.21 L) = 2.4 atm

Therefore, the partial pressure of He in vessel B at 500 K is 2.4 atm.
