A Tank is filled with the mixture of Milk and Water in the ratio of 3:2 up to 2/5 of its capacity. The tank has two inlet pipes i.e., Milk and Water inlets. Milk and Water pipe can fill an empty tank in 12 and 18 hours respectively. Now both pipes are opened simultaneously and closed after the Tank is completely filled, then what is the ratio of Milk and Water in the full Tank if it can accommodate 250Litre?
  • a)
    1:1
  • b)
    2:3
  • c)
    3:2
  • d)

Correct answer is option 'C'. Can you explain this answer?
Verified Answer
A Tank is filled with the mixture of Milk and Water in the ratio of 3:...
The initial amount of milk and water is :

The amount in the tank before is :

2/5 x 250 = 100 litres

The amount of water is :

2/5x 100 = 40 litres

The amount of milk is :

100 - 40 = 60 litres

The remaining amount is :

250 - 100 = 150 litres

In 1 hr :

Water = 1/18 of 250 = 125/9

Milk = 1/12 of 250 = 125/6

In 1hr the total amount of milk and water is :

125/9 + 125/6 = (250 + 375) / 18 = 625/18 litres

To fill 150 litres it will take :

150 x 18/625 = 108/25 hrs

In 1 hr The amount of milk is = 125/6

How much water will be there in 108/25 hrs will.

108/25 x 125/6 = 5 x 18 = 90 litres
The amount of water is : 150 - 90 = 60litres
The total amount of %
Water = 60 + 40 = 100
Milk = 90 + 60 = 150
Milk : water = 150 : 100
= 3 : 2

A Tank is filled with the mixture of Milk and Water in the ratio of 3:...
Given information:
- The tank is filled with a mixture of milk and water in the ratio of 3:2.
- The tank can accommodate 250 liters.
- The tank is filled up to 2/5 of its capacity.

Approach:
To solve this problem, we can break it down into the following steps:
1. Determine the amount of milk and water in the tank when it is filled up to 2/5 of its capacity.
2. Determine the time taken by each pipe to fill the tank.
3. Determine the ratio of milk and water in the full tank.

Solution:

Step 1: Determine the amount of milk and water in the tank when it is filled up to 2/5 of its capacity.
- The ratio of milk to water in the tank is 3:2.
- Let's assume the tank is filled with 3x liters of milk and 2x liters of water.
- The total capacity of the tank is 3x + 2x = 5x liters.
- As per the given information, the tank is filled up to 2/5 of its capacity, which is (2/5) * 5x = 2x liters.

Step 2: Determine the time taken by each pipe to fill the tank.
- The milk pipe can fill the tank in 12 hours, so the milk pipe fills (2x/12) liters per hour.
- The water pipe can fill the tank in 18 hours, so the water pipe fills (2x/18) liters per hour.

Step 3: Determine the ratio of milk and water in the full tank.
- Both pipes are opened simultaneously and closed after the tank is completely filled.
- The total time taken to fill the tank when both pipes are opened simultaneously can be calculated using the formula:
Total time = (Milk pipe time * Water pipe time) / (Milk pipe time + Water pipe time)
Total time = (12 * 18) / (12 + 18) = 6 * 18 / 5 = 108 / 5 hours.
- In 108/5 hours, the milk pipe fills (108/5) * (2x/12) = 36x/5 liters of milk.
- In 108/5 hours, the water pipe fills (108/5) * (2x/18) = 12x/5 liters of water.
- Therefore, the ratio of milk to water in the full tank is (36x/5) : (12x/5) = 3 : 1.

Thus, the correct answer is option C) 3:1, which represents the ratio of milk to water in the full tank.

A Tank is filled with the mixture of Milk and Water in the ratio of 3:...
Initial Milk = 2/5*250*3/5 = 60 L
Water = 2/5*250*2/5 = 40 L
Rest of Tank =150 L
Pipes are opened then can fill rest of tank in 108/25 hours
H/W = constant
then (108/25)/12/x = (108/25)/18(150-x)
X = 90 = Milk, Water = 60
Final ratio = 3:2
