as you know AgCN is a covalent compound so when we break the AgCN molecule one electron takes Ag and one electron takes carbon .
and to make the bond two electron or one lone pair is required which is not present on the carbon ,so nitrogen have to donate lone pair forming isocyanide not cyanide.
