Two 220 V, 100 W bulbs are connected first in series and then in paral...
Given:
Voltage (V) = 220 V
Power (P) = 100 W

When bulbs are connected in series:
- Total voltage (Vt) = 2V = 440 V
- Total resistance (Rt) = R1 + R2
- Power (P) = Vt^2/Rt
- Power (P) = 220*220/(2R) = 100
- R = 484 Ω
- Voltage drop across each bulb (V1, V2) = IR = 110 V
- Power consumed by each bulb (P1, P2) = V1^2/R = V2^2/R = 50 W
- Total power consumed by combination = P1 + P2 = 100 W

When bulbs are connected in parallel:
- Total voltage (Vt) = V = 220 V
- Total resistance (Rt) = (1/R1 + 1/R2)^-1
- Power (P) = V^2/Rt
- Power (P) = 220*220/R = 200
- R = 121 Ω
- Current (I) = V/R = 1.81 A
- Power consumed by bulb 1 (P1) = I^2R1 = 164.7 W
- Power consumed by bulb 2 (P2) = I^2R2 = 35.3 W
- Total power consumed by combination = P1 + P2 = 200 W

Therefore, the power drawn by the combination in each case respectively will be:
- 50 W, 200 W (when connected in parallel)
- 100 W, 50 W (when connected in series)

Hence, option C is the correct answer.
