Lathyrism is a disorder caused due to an excessive intake of Kesari Dal, which affects the cross-linking of collagen causing thinning of collagen fibres. 
Collagen is the major protein of connective tissues and a defect in their cross-linking leads to skeletal deformation.Hence, option "Skeletal deformation and thinning of collagen fibres" is correct.
Diabetes mellitus, reproductive failure, precocious puberty, renal dysfunction, cardiovascular abnormalities, mental retardation and delayed puberty are not related to collagen thinning.....

Lathyrism is a neurotoxic disorder caused by eating certain legumes of genus Lathyrus. It is due to the lathyrogen present in them which are basically the derivatives of amino acids. This disease leads to progressive weakness and stiffness, prickling/tingling sensations and alterations in the collagen cross links that ultimately leads to alterations in the bone material and pattern and therefore leads to skeletal deformities. Hence, option A
