    The solid cylinder
  • b)
    The hollow cylinder
  • c)
Both will reach the bottom together

    The one having greater density
Correct answer is option 'A'. Can you explain this answer?
Verified Answer
A hollow cylinder and a solid cylinder having the same mass and same d...
(a.) The Solid cylinder

If the inclined plane is frictionless, both will reach at the same time irrespective of masses and densities. But here they are rolling. Rolling depends on moment of inertia, higher the value of moment of inertia, higher would be the rolling kinetic energy and hence lower will be the translatory energy.

A hollow cylinder and a solid cylinder having the same mass and same d...
Moment of inertia is equivalent to mass.more moment of inertia then its taken more time to reach bottom during rolling.hollow cylinder's m0i= moi of ring=mr^2 n moi of solid cylinder=moi of disc=mr^2/2 clearly hollow cylinder have more moi so hollow cylinder takes more time to reach bottom than that of time taken by solid cylinder.

A hollow cylinder and a solid cylinder having the same mass and same d...
See
V= √2gh/B
where B = Moment of inertia
so jiska Beta kam uska velocity zyada
MOI of solid cylinder is MR2/2
so iski vel. zyada and it reaches the
bottom first.
