Given:

  • Electrical energy supplied, E = 60 W

  • Efficiency of bulb, η = 50%

  • Time taken, t = 1 day = 24 x 60 x 60 seconds

  • Planck's constant, h = 6.626 x 10^-34 J s

  • Speed of light, c = 3 x 10^8 m/s



Calculations:

  • Energy of each photon, E = hc/λ

  • E = (6.626 x 10^-34 J s x 3 x 10^8 m/s) / (700 x 10^-9 m)

  • E = 2.839 x 10^-19 J

  • Number of photons emitted per second, n = E/E

  • n = 60 / (2 x 2.839 x 10^-19)

  • n = 1.053 x 10^20 photons/s

  • Total number of photons emitted in one day, N = n x t

  • N = 1.053 x 10^20 x 24 x 60 x 60

  • N = 9.086 x 10^24 photons
