Was 4 times as old as his son. What are their present ages?

Let's call Suresh's age "S" and his son's age "X". We know that:

S + X = 60 (the sum of their ages is 60)

And we also know that five years ago, Suresh was 4 times as old as his son:

S - 5 = 4(X - 5)

We can simplify this equation:

S - 5 = 4X - 20

S = 4X - 15

Now we can substitute this expression for S into the first equation:

4X - 15 + X = 60

5X - 15 = 60

5X = 75

X = 15

So Suresh's son is currently 15 years old. To find Suresh's age, we can use either of the equations we derived earlier. Let's use S = 4X - 15:

S = 4(15) - 15

S = 60 - 15

S = 45

So Suresh is currently 45 years old.
