Pepsin works in acidic medium in stomach. it releases in its inactive form that is pepsinogen and activated by hcl and converted into pepsin which further works on protein. it takes place when the stomach ph is about 1.2-1.5
Whereas trypsin works in alkaline medium in duodenum although it also helps in protein digestion.

Pepsin and Trypsin:
Pepsin and trypsin are both digestive enzymes that play a crucial role in the breakdown of proteins. However, they differ in their site of action and optimal pH conditions.

Pepsin:
1. Site of Action: Pepsin is primarily produced and secreted by the chief cells in the gastric glands of the stomach.
2. Optimal pH: Pepsin functions best in an acidic environment with a pH range of 1.5-2.5.
3. Protein Digestion: Pepsin specifically acts on proteins and breaks them down into smaller peptides.

Trypsin:
1. Site of Action: Trypsin is produced by the pancreas and released into the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine).
2. Optimal pH: Trypsin requires a slightly alkaline environment, with an optimal pH range of 7.5-8.5.
3. Protein Digestion: Trypsin also targets proteins, but it further breaks down the peptides produced by pepsin into smaller fragments called amino acids.

Difference Between Trypsin and Pepsin:
The key difference between trypsin and pepsin lies in their site of action and optimal pH conditions.

1. Site of Action: Pepsin acts in the stomach, while trypsin acts in the duodenum.
2. Optimal pH: Pepsin works optimally in an acidic environment, whereas trypsin requires an alkaline environment.

Correct Answer:
Based on the given options, the correct answer is option D: Trypsin digests protein in the alkaline medium of the duodenum. This aligns with the characteristics of trypsin, which acts in the duodenum (not the stomach) and requires an alkaline pH for optimal function.
