- The total torque acting on the plank is due to the weight of the man and the plank itself.
- The plank will tip over when the torque due to the man's weight is equal to the torque due to the plank's weight.

Calculating the torque:

- Torque due to the man: 80 kg * 9.8 m/s² * x
- Torque due to the plank: 10 kg * 9.8 m/s² * 5 m (center of mass)
- Equating the two torques: 80 * 9.8 * x = 10 * 9.8 * 5

Solving for x:

- 80 * x = 10 * 5
- 80x = 50
- x = 50 / 80
- x = 0.625 m

Therefore, the man can stand up to a distance of 0.625m from the end of the plank without causing it to tip over.
