Given Information:
- Two pegs A and B are fixed opposite banks of a 50 m wide river.
- The level was set up at peg A and the staff reading on peg A and B were observed as 1.350 m and 1.550 m respectively.
- The instrument was then shifted and set up at peg B, and the staff reading on peg B and A were observed as 0.750 m and 0.550 m respectively.
- The R.L. of peg A is 100.200 m.

To find:
The R.L. of peg B.

Solution:
Step 1: Calculate the height of instrument (H.I.) at peg A and B.
- At peg A:
- Staff reading = 1.350 m
- R.L. of peg A = 100.200 m
- H.I. = R.L. of peg A + Staff reading = 100.200 m + 1.350 m = 101.550 m

- At peg B:
- Staff reading = 1.550 m
- H.I. = R.L. of peg B + Staff reading
- We need to find the R.L. of peg B, so we rearrange the equation:
- R.L. of peg B = H.I. - Staff reading = 101.550 m - 1.550 m = 100.000 m

Step 2: Calculate the reduced level (R.L.) of peg B.
- The instrument was shifted and set up at peg B.
- At peg B:
- Staff reading = 0.750 m
- R.L. of peg B = 100.000 m
- H.I. = R.L. of peg B + Staff reading = 100.000 m + 0.750 m = 100.750 m

- At peg A:
- Staff reading = 0.550 m
- H.I. = R.L. of peg A + Staff reading
- We are given the R.L. of peg A, so we rearrange the equation:
- R.L. of peg A = H.I. - Staff reading = 100.750 m - 0.550 m = 100.200 m

Result:
The R.L. of peg B is 100.000 m.
