Verified Answer
A sum of Rs. 1750 is divided into two parts such that the interest on ...
Let the principal be P1 and P2,
When simple interest is same,
P1 ∶ P2 = 1/r1t∶ 1/r2t[where r and t are the rate and time period]
⇒ P1 ∶ P2 = 6 ∶ 8
⇒ P= 6/14 × 1750 = Rs. 750
⇒ P= 8/14 × 1750 = Rs. 1000
∴ Interest = 750 × 8/100 × 1 = Rs. 60

A sum of Rs. 1750 is divided into two parts such that the interest on ...
Solution:

Let the two parts be x and (1750 - x)

According to the question,

Simple Interest on x at 8% = Simple Interest on (1750 - x) at 6%

=> (x * 8 * 1)/100 = ((1750 - x) * 6 * 1)/100

=> 8x = 10500 - 6x

=> 14x = 10500

=> x = 750

Therefore, the two parts are 750 and (1750 - 750) = 1000.

Interest on each part at 8% and 6% respectively is calculated as follows:

Interest on 750 at 8% = (750 * 8 * 1)/100 = Rs. 60

Interest on 1000 at 6% = (1000 * 6 * 1)/100 = Rs. 60

Hence, the answer is option C, Rs. 60.
