The Krebs cycle, also known as the citric acid cycle, is a series of chemical reactions that occur in the mitochondria of cells. Here are the compounds involved in the Krebs cycle arranged in descending order based on the number of carbon atoms:

1) Succinate (4 carbon atoms)
2) Fumarate (4 carbon atoms)
3) Malate (4 carbon atoms)
4) Oxaloacetate (4 carbon atoms)
5) Citrate (6 carbon atoms)
6) Isocitrate (6 carbon atoms)
7) Alpha-ketoglutarate (5 carbon atoms)
8) Succinyl-CoA (4 carbon atoms)
9) Acetyl-CoA (2 carbon atoms)

Please note that Acetyl-CoA is not directly part of the Krebs cycle but enters it by reacting with oxaloacetate to form citrate.
