A 4- digit number is formed by the digits 0, 1, 2, 5 and 8 without rep...
Solution:

Number of 4- digit number formed by using digits 0, 1, 2, 5 and 8 without repetition is 5P4 = 5x4x3x2 = 120.

A number is divisible by 5 if its units digit is either 0 or 5.

Number of 4-digit number with 0 in the units’ place = 4P3 = 4x3x2 = 24.

Number of 4-digit number with 5 in the units’ place = 4P3 = 4x3x2 = 24.

Therefore, the total number of ways in which the number is divisible by 5 = 24 + 24 = 48.

Therefore, the probability that the number is divisible by 5 = (Number of ways in which the number is divisible by 5) / (Total number of 4-digit numbers formed) = 48 / 120 = 2/5.

Hence, the correct option is (b) 2/5.
