Ram and Shyam invested their money in the ratio of 4 : 5 in a company....
Given:
- Ram and Shyam invested their money in the ratio of 4 : 5 in a company.
- After 6 months, Shyam increased his investment up to 2 times than initial investment.
- Ram withdrew the total amount after 8 months.
- Total profit at the end of the year was Rs. 24400.

To find:
- Shyam's share in the profit.

Solution:
Let the initial investment of Ram and Shyam be 4x and 5x respectively.
Shyam increased his investment after 6 months, so his new investment is 2 * 5x = 10x.
Ram withdrew his total investment after 8 months, so his investment remained for (12-8) = 4 months.

Total profit is divided into three parts:
1. Profit for Ram for 8 months.
2. Profit for Shyam for 6 months on his initial investment.
3. Profit for Shyam for 6 months on his increased investment.

Profit for Ram:
Profit is directly proportional to the time and the amount invested.
So, profit for Ram = (4x * 8/12) * (24400/9) = 10880x/27

Profit for Shyam on his initial investment:
Profit for Shyam = (5x * 6/12) * (24400/9) = 6800x/27

Profit for Shyam on his increased investment:
Profit for Shyam = (10x-5x) * 6/12 * 24400/9 = 13600x/27

Total profit for Shyam = Profit on initial investment + Profit on increased investment
= 6800x/27 + 13600x/27 = 20400x/27

Total profit = Profit for Ram + Total profit for Shyam
24400 = 10880x/27 + 20400x/27

x = 27 * 24400 / 31320 = 21

Shyam's share in the profit = Total profit for Shyam = 20400x/27 = 18000

Therefore, option (c) Rs. 18000 is the correct answer.
