Experimental Verification of Chromosomal Theory of Inheritance
The chromosomal theory of inheritance states that genes are located on chromosomes and that the behavior of chromosomes during meiosis is responsible for Mendelian inheritance. T.H. Morgan and his colleagues conducted experiments with the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster to verify this theory.

Choice of Model Organism
Drosophila melanogaster was chosen for these experiments due to its short generation time, large number of offspring, and easily observable traits. These characteristics made it ideal for studying genetic inheritance.

Observations
