Which of the following group of cells are haploid –a)ovum ,sperm...
Explanation- spermatozoa, ootid, second polar body, first polar body are haploid.
Sperm are haploid cells, meaning they have half the number of chromosomes that other cells of the body, which are diploid cells, have. Sperm must be haploid in order for normal sexual reproduction to occur. During reproduction, a sperm unites with another cell, called an egg. This is called fertilization
An ootid is the haploid result of ootidogenesis. In oogenesis, it doesn't really have any significance in itself, since it is very similar to the ovum. However, it fills the purpose as the female counterpart of the male spermatid in spermatogenesis.
The second polar body (haploid) fuses with a haploid daughter nucleus from division of the first polar body (diploid); 3. A daughter nucleus from division of the first polar body fuses with the pronucleus; or 4. Two haploid nuclei fuse from cleavage.
A polar body is a small haploid cell that is formed at the same time as an egg cell during oogenesis, but generally does not have the ability to be fertilized. When certain diploid cells in animals undergo cytokinesis after meiosis to produce egg cells, they sometimes divide unevenly.
