"In the unicellular organisms like bacteria, algae and amoeba, reprodu...
Introduction: In unicellular organisms like bacteria, algae, and amoeba, reproduction is synonymous with growth as they do not possess specialized reproductive organs for sexual reproduction.

Explanation:

Growth: Unicellular organisms grow by increasing their cellular constituents, such as DNA, ribosomes, and enzymes. They absorb nutrients from the environment, convert them into energy and use them for the synthesis of new cellular components. Once the cell reaches a certain size, it divides into two identical daughter cells through a process called binary fission.

Reproduction: In unicellular organisms, reproduction is also achieved through binary fission. The process involves the duplication of genetic material, followed by the division of the cell into two identical daughter cells. This results in an increase in the number of cells, which is often associated with growth.

Advantages: Reproduction by binary fission has several advantages for unicellular organisms.

- It allows them to reproduce rapidly, leading to the formation of large populations in a short amount of time.
- It is an efficient method of reproduction as it does not require the formation of specialized reproductive organs or the use of gametes.
- The identical nature of daughter cells ensures that the genetic information is passed down from generation to generation without any alteration.

Conclusion: In summary, reproduction in unicellular organisms like bacteria, algae, and amoeba is synonymous with growth as it results in an increase in the number of cells. This process is achieved through binary fission, which is a rapid and efficient method of reproduction.

In unicellular organisms like bacteria.algae and ameoba . increase in cellular size leads to cell division which creates to new offsprings hence in unicellular organisms growth is same as reproduction because increase in mass and size of the body is leading to generation of two new daughter cells
