A plane metallic sheet is placed with its face parallel to lines of ma...
Given information:
- Plane metallic sheet parallel to lines of magnetic induction B
- Particle with mass m and charge q projected with velocity v from distance d

Explanation:
- The magnetic force acting on the particle will be qvB (direction perpendicular to velocity)
- The force due to projection at angle θ to the magnetic field will be qvBsinθ
- For the particle to not hit the plate, these forces should balance out

Analysis:
- At the maximum velocity, the force due to projection should be equal and opposite to the magnetic force
- qvBsinθ = qvB
- sinθ = 1, θ = 90 degrees

Calculations:
- Using equations of motion, v^2 = u^2 + 2as where a = 0 (since no acceleration in the direction perpendicular to field)
- v = u = sqrt(2qVd/m)
- Maximum velocity of projection = 2Bqd/m
Therefore, the correct answer is (i) 2Bqd/m.
