Verified Answer
Consider the following statements about the National Biofuel Policy:(1...
Statement 1 is incorrect: Farmers are at risk of not getting appropriate price for their produce during the surplus production phase. Taking this into account, the Policy allows the use of surplus food grains for production of ethanol for blending with petrol with the approval of the National Biofuel Coordination Committee.
Statement 2 is incorrect: No approval is required for the production of ethanol from damaged food grains like wheat, broken rice etc. which are unfit for human consumption.
Use of damaged food grains and surplus food grains for production of ethanol will increase its availability for Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme.
Statement 3 is correct: The Policy envisages an indicative target of 20% blending of ethanol in petrol and 5% blending of biodiesel in diesel by 2030.
Hence, the correct option is (c).
