To distinguish between aldehyde and ketone the tollens reagent is used because the aldehydes only answers to this reagent not the ketone thus the distinguish between aldehyde and ketone us easily find outed by using tollens reagent

How to distinguish between glucose and fructose:

Fehling's Solution:
- Glucose reacts with Fehling's solution to form a red precipitate but fructose does not react.
- This test is based on the presence of an aldehyde group in glucose which reacts with the copper ions in Fehling's solution.

Tollens Reagent:
- Glucose reacts with Tollens reagent to form a silver mirror but fructose does not react.
- This test is also based on the presence of an aldehyde group in glucose which undergoes oxidation.

Benedict's Solution:
- Glucose reacts with Benedict's solution to form a red precipitate but fructose does not react.
- This test is similar to Fehling's solution test and is used to detect reducing sugars.

Optical Rotation:
- Glucose rotates plane-polarized light to the right (+52.7°), while fructose rotates it to the left (-92.4°).
- This property is due to the different structural arrangements of the molecules.
By using these methods, one can easily distinguish between glucose and fructose based on their chemical reactivity and optical properties.
