Resistance of the wire is directly proportional to it's length. Let us say there is a resistor of length L and resistance R. If it is divided into N equal parts the length of each part would be L/N and hence the resistance of each part will be R/N.

• If all of them are connected in series you will get back the original resistor, so there will be no change in the current but voltage across each resistor will be V/N and in total the voltage across whole resistor will be V.

• If they are connected in parallel the equivalent resistance will be R/N². The voltage across each resistor is same (equal to V) and current across each resistor is I/N
