Given:
Length of the magnet = 2l
Breadth of the magnet = 2b
Pole strength of the magnet = p
Magnetic moment of the magnet = M

Dividing the magnet into four equal parts:
Length of each part = l
Breadth of each part = b

To find: Pole strength of each part

Formula:
Magnetic moment, M = pole strength, p × area of the magnet, A

Area of the magnet, A = length × breadth

Calculation:
Area of the magnet = 2l × 2b = 4lb

Magnetic moment, M = p × 4lb

Pole strength of each part, p' = ?

Area of each part = l × b

Magnetic moment of each part = p' × l × b

As the magnet is divided into four equal parts, the magnetic moment of each part will be one-fourth of the magnetic moment of the original magnet.

Therefore,

p' × l × b = (1/4) × p × 4lb

p' = p/2

Hence, the pole strength of each part is p/2.

Therefore, option (B) is the correct answer.
