Replication is a synthesis of new DNA strands using parental strand as a template. DNA polymerase enzyme adds deoxyribonucleotides to synthesize DNA using the base sequence of parental DNA strand. The primary transcript is synthesized during transcription using DNA template strand which undergoes processing to produce a functional mRNA. Both replication and transcription occur in the nucleus. The process mRNA is transported to the cytoplasm where it serve as a template for amino acid sequence of the polypeptide, synthesized during protein synthesis. Protein synthesis is carried out on ribosomes, a cytosol organelle, by using the mRNA sequence as a template for type and sequence of amino acids in growing polypeptide chain. Amino acids are brought to ribosomes by tRNAs which are present in the cytosol.

So, correct answer is option (a)...

Assertion and Reason Analysis
The given assertion and reason pertain to the processes of gene expression in eukaryotic cells. Let's analyze both statements.
Assertion (A)
- Replication and transcription occur in the nucleus, which is true.
- Translation, however, occurs in the cytoplasm, where ribosomes are located.
Reason (R)
- mRNA is indeed synthesized in the nucleus during transcription.
- This mRNA is then transported to the cytoplasm, where it interacts with ribosomes and amino acids for protein synthesis.
Evaluation of A and R
- Correctness of Assertion (A):
- A is correct as it accurately describes the locations of replication, transcription, and translation.
- Correctness of Reason (R):
- R is also correct as it explains the role of mRNA in protein synthesis and its movement from the nucleus to the cytoplasm.
Explanation of Relationship
- The reason provided is a direct and valid explanation of the assertion. Since mRNA's transport to the cytoplasm is essential for translation, it supports the assertion regarding the spatial separation of these processes.
Conclusion
Based on the analysis above, the correct answer is:
a) both A and R are correct, R is the correct explanation of A
This choice is validated as both statements are accurate and R substantiates the reason for A.
