9(a + 8d) = 8(a + 7d)
9a + 72d = 8a + 56d
a + 16d = 0 - - (1)
So, T₁₇ = a + 16d = 0
In general if rTᵣ = xTₓ then the (r + x)ᵗʰ term will be 0.
Sₙ = n(2a + (n - 1)d)/2
0 = n(2a + (n - 1)d)/2
n(2a + (n - 1)d) = 0
Since n cannot be 0,
2a + (n - 1)d = 0
n = 1 - 2a/d
From (1) a/d = - 16,
n = 1 - 2(-16) = 33
9(a + 8d) = 8(a + 7d)
9a + 72d = 8a + 56d
a + 16d = 0 - - (1)
So, T₁₇ = a + 16d = 0
